2026 Scholarships and Grants

10 applications received (6 High School and 3 college scholarship, 1 grant). The following were awarded.

-  $1500 scholarship to Cooper Struthers graduating from Sedro Woolley; aims to become a game warden after college. He will be attending WWU.

-  $2500 scholarship to Joaquin Garcia, Senior at UW in Fisheries Science who has extensive volunteer and intern field experience.

-  $2500 scholarship to William Le, UW Masters student in Marine Affairs who is researching halibut management. William served an internship with the Pacific Halibut Council and worked for Alaska and King County on salmon management and recovery.

-  $3500 grant to Emily Bjornsgard, WWU Masters student in Marine Science who is researching how to improve early stage survival of forage fish in Puget Sound so they can grow to feed our sport species of interest. Money to fund lab equipment and research tasks such as collecting and raising specimens, preparing and evaluating samples, analyzing data and preparing reports.
